Help!! no power running through my handycam (DCR-SR35)

Hi,  I have had my handycam DCR-SR35 for a few years and never had any problems until now.  It was working fine at the weekend then i took it out to charge this morning, the charge light came on then went off as usual a few hours later as if it was fully charged but when i went to use it there was no power at all running through it.  There is a red light flashing above the battery pack and i dont know why and no where on the manual does it explain what this light is for.  It wont even turn on whilst plugged into the socket.  Does anyone have any advice please

Hello karan2001 - Welcome to the Sony Forums

If the camera isn't even running when you plug it directly into the mains, this may indicate that there is an internal fault within the power supply or the camera itself. As you have had it for more than one year, this isn't something that would be covered by the manufacturers warranty but you can still get repair advice by contacting customer services at Sony. The contact details are in the sticky forum thread available on the front page of the photography forum (I would post the link directly but there are technical issues at the moment) - you will see it is second from bottom and titled 'Digital Camera & Camcorder Repairs' by StartTheCar.

As with any out-of-warranty repair, I would advise you try and get a few quotes from different repair centres/workshops to see if you can get the best deal. Depending upon where you live, there may be a local place that does camera repairs as well so you could check your Yellow Pages etc.

Thanks,

Simon
