I have a DCR-PC9E camcorder. Are there any external microphones suitable for this model

I have taken a look at the manual for your camcorder, and it seems that there is a standard microphone socket that you can use (page 121):

As long as any particular microphone has a 3.5mm jack on the end, it should be compatible with this camcorder. There is a pretty large selection available from sites such as Amazon or eBay, and a search for '3.5mm microphone' will show you that there are a number of choices available for around £10-£15.
