Sony Bravia KD-55XE9005 Restart Issue

I have a Sony Bravia KD-55XE9005 updated to Android 8.0. It is  connected to the mains via an extension plug. The problem is that I cannot switch off the TV completely. Every time I press the power button on the remote the tv will switch off and then immediately restart. If I want to switch off the tv completely, I have to press the power off button on the extansion cord at the time between the TV swtiches off and restarts. Is there some way to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

Hi P.Andrew,

Can you please factory reset the TV and see if it helps?

Cheers

Peter

Hi Peter,

I did a factory data reset from settings > storage & reset as you suggested but that didn't help. The TV still restarts automatically.

Can you make sure that you have the latest v6.6575 installed on your TV since a previous software version had this issue but was resolved with an update.

There’s a power button on the back of the tv (bottom left side when standing in front of the tv). Does a Press & hold on that turn it off & stay off? Worth a try.

I realy can't help but I have similary problem with my KD-55AF9.
Sometime when I change chanel it just turn black. If I then just turn off the tv, it turn it self on again after a couple of seconds.
Been in touch with Sony but they had only the standard answer that includes restart and latest firmware.

Sorry for highjacking your thread.

Hi P.Andrew,

Try clearing the cached data (Storage & reset - Internal Shared Storage - Cached Data) then take the remote out of the room or try turning the TV Off from the button on the TV itself and see how things work from there.

Hi HobbeFromSweden,

Since the issue and the model are different, just create a new thread to avoid confusing those who come on later on with the same question.

But, you can try unplugging the TV from the power and disconnecting everything from it, leaving it to depower for 2-3 mins.
