When playing back recordings made on a USB HDD we get missing frames where the screen goes black for a split second. This can be every few minutes or every few seconds. This only happens on playback, not when watching live TV.

@Mrhappy37 could be on to something here. Has anyone got the issue resolved on an XF by any chance??
I have the XF9005 on the latest available firmware (Android 9) and the fault is still present.
I strongly urge everyone still facing the issue to report this to Sony. If the update fixed it on XGs, another one could do the same for XFs

Good luck with that, if they do decide to fix it it will be through the goodness of their heart...which I don't think they have one. Below is Sony supports last response to me..........
With reference to your enquiry regarding your Sony KD-49XF9005 TV, we regret to inform you that if the fault is a software issue, the TV will not be repaired as there is no hardware issue to be repaired, nor replaced as the software issues are not covered under the warranty as per the TV End User License Agreements in the below link:

Sounds to me like they're acknowledging it's a software issue. In which case, there's really no sense in physically inspecting the TV (I'm assuming you asked for someone to look at it?)
There doesn't seem to be much more to do apart from waiting for an update. Which (IMO) depends on how many users report the issue in terms of how soon we can get it.

I didn't have anyone look at it as Sony said I am liable for the cost if no hardware fault is found. As the issue was introduced after a software update and has been fixed on the XH via a software update it's highly likely a software problem.
All I can hope is more people report it. What tv do you have @Win_88?
Having this issue on my KD55XG8196. Firmware is the latest (6.7140).
Sony - any update on the software fix which worked on XH models being rolled out to XG?
Sony have issued the XF with the update that "fixed" the issue but as far as I'm aware it hasn't fixed it, well it hasn't for me anyway.
