Kodi banned on updated tv's with Oreo?
There are numerous posts on various forums and on the official kodi forum.Kodi devs accouse Sony openly that Oreo update banned the kodi packages and kodi can not install anymore.
The fact is that without any doubts, it is confirmed by AF9 owners, on AF9 tv can not install kodi anymore.
Is this true?

Hi Labros7545,
I guess this would need testing. However, as far as I'm aware, If the application is available in Google Store application on the TV, then you can download it successfully. You'll find more information on the available apps here: https://bit.ly/2CWuqOv

Apparently Othe Sony TV Oreo looks for the Kodi package ID and stops it from running. Someone has recompiled Kodi with a different package ID and it works fine so yes it looks like its being deliberately blocked.

Is it legal to actively block an app from the official Google Play store?

As it turned out, the Sony Oreo firmware classifies the Kodi package as Kernel Object (.ko) due to its ID "org.xbmc.kodi", therefore preventing its installation.
So sad that Sony only gets active after media coverage (heise). The issue has been existing for months already.
