hi all , anyone know when firmware v6.287 (oreo) for 2015/2016 tvs is going to be released for europe ? its already been released for asia/pacific, thanks
Hi,
We appreciate your feedback regarding the software update, and we've passed it on to the proper channels for future consideration and product development.
Hello,
Have you received any feedback on this yet?
Nothing yet, still the same response.
I believe it'll be a while if it ever gets introduced since they're probably working on the 2021 model releases and updates for 2020 models (which seems to be requested a lot on Twitter and Facebook lately)
Hopefully we get some good news soon though.

I have looked at other Sony support sites in ALL other territories around the world (so: the Americas, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific/Oceania) where the ATV1 model Android TVs from 2015-206 were sold, and ALL of those regions already have the Oreo update (AKA v 6.827).
It is only Europe that appears to have been left out.
It is very frustrating that European owners of essentially identical hardware (possibly barring digital tuners) to those in the whole rest of the world who have had this release of Android for almost AN ENTIRE YEAR still don't have it (and possibly now never will).
I don't understand why there is such a lack of parity between the versions between territories here when we're talking about such a major Android version in terms of the Android TV landscape and the core hardware it runs on is basically identical.
Oreo is the one release that has made drastic changes to the the look/feel of the older/original ATV interface and that design language has stuck through to even the most recent versions. However, also (from what I have read) Oreo brings with it much improved performance over Lollipop/Marshmallow on the frankly woefully underpowered Mediatek SoC that these older ATV1 devices use. From reports from other users around the world it goes a long way to improving "snappiness" and performance of the user interface.
It seems very unfair that just because we are in Europe that we don't have it, whereas if we lived in any other territory we would...
Hopefully it'll be one of those "better late than never situations" though.
If I see any updates about this on Twitter I'll post about it here, just in case.

Sony ATV1 models is dead no more OS updates in Europe. Sony one more latest OS update giving some 2016 models:

Yes it's a shame, unfortunately those models are not ATV1 but ATV2. It's like they're rubbing it in!
I doubt the 2015-2016 models will get anything above basic Oreo (if we even get that now in Europe) since they are stuck on an older version of the kernel because of the terrible Mediatek chipset inside.
This is all very frustrating: my XD93 was released in 2016 but just before the refresh to ATV2 and was more expensive and of higher spec than some of those other 2016 models in that list. But those cheaper, lesser models get to enjoy more updates and a more modern OS.
Yeah this does not make any sense.
It's even worse if you also consider the fact that the European consumer usually pays way more for the same device.
If the 2015 models would perform as expected nobody would care this much, but unfortunately they don't, so the fact that the Oreo can also bring improvement in performance, makes it even harder to digest.
Has there been any more news on this from Sony or even an explanation as to why in Europe owners have missed out on the performance benefits of Oreo when identical models in all of the rest of the world have had it for over a year now?
