Bravia XR-55A80J - new firmware (6.8092) from 23/07/2025 broke my wifi-direct

Hi,
At first, I was having issues connecting my Bravia using wifi-direct. I was getting "registration failed" message. Yesterday, I updated for current version (6.8092). After resarting my Bravia, "Wifi-Direct" menu is gone. No more Wifi-Direct option under Network & Internet menu. I did factory reset but it is still at same latest version and no success. I could try to downgrade the firmware to test if this is the problem, but I'm more concerned about why the Wifi-Direct is simply gone from my TV.

Anyone got a clue?

Thanks in advance,
Matheus

Wifidirect removal was stated already on previous release

"

  • Removes the Screen mirroring and Wi-Fi Direct features (Google Cast and Apple AirPlay can be used as alternatives)"

But why you need wifidirect to connect to which device?? A normal WiFi connection would serve most of the use case (apart mirroring that use wifidirect but silently)

Thanks for info. So there's no way I can use it as a wireless display anymore? As mirroring was also removed...

Hi, as suggested in the release note you can still mirror your Apple devices via AirPlay or other devices (including PCs) via Google cast
