Bravia 8 ii & Freesat 4k - unstable HDMI

Hi

I'm struggling to get a stable connection between Bravia 8 ii (K65XR8M25BP) and a Freesat 4k (UHD)  recordable receiver.

When I activate the receiver, the TV picture will blank off then back on every 60 seconds or so while it negotiates with the receiver. It will settle eventually, but it can 5-10 attempts before settling.

I have tried different HDMI inputs & cables & the HDMI modes on the 8ii but not found a reliable solution.

The Bravia controller app is reporting output from the Freesat box as 4k HDR.

The TV works perfectly with every other system I've tested it against - PS5, Xbox, 4k blu ray player & Amazon 4k cube - so I think the issue must be compatibility with the Freesat box itself.

Wondering if anyone has had similar experience & has a solution..   because otherwise, the 8ii is excellent.

thanks

tim

Just to add the models I had were k65xr80u and k65xr70

I followed all the technical advice including new hdmi cable and even a new freesat box.

freesat support was surprisingly more helpful than Sony and actually sent me this link below from the Sony website after I’d already ordered the Bravia 7.
I had the Bravia 7 for 2 weeks without a problem until I updated the software today and it happened straight after.

I have experienced exactly the same issue with Bravia 8 and Bravia 7 tv’s and can confirm it is the compatibility of the freesat box with various Sony models. I have found this out by exchanging originally the Bravia 8 for another one, same model then changing it for Bravia 7 and exactly the same issue, what I can confidently tell you is it ONLY HAPPENS AFTER THE LATEST SONY SOFTWARE UPDATE. As you have a newer model your software update may indeed have been preinstalled at factory as was my first replaced tv. I have also noticed when this happens the hdmi logo is greyed out too?

Hi Tim, just to let you know Sony contacted me in regards to issue we’re experiencing and I was told to download latest software update which was released yesterday (6th August).

Did so and so far so good 2 days of no black outs hope this helps 😊
