Annoying problem

Hi all

Can anyone help please. We have a Sony Android Tv KD-43XH8096 connected to a Humax Freesat Box. The TV is now about 2 1/2 years old. For the last year we have had a problem with a number of probably connected problems. It starts with the volume bar disappearing when using the Sony remote. Next we get a slowly worsening audio / video sync problem. This is not a millisecond lag but seems to be a few seconds! Next the Sony remote has trouble switching off the TV. When the green button is pressed on the Sony remote there is about a 5 second pause before the video switches off and then the audio lags behind another 5 seconds before it then goes off. We then usually cannot switch the TV on with the remote (occasionally it does come on after a few seconds but with all the above problems). We have tried pressing the green button for 5 seconds to enable restart. This sometimes works and we are OK for a day or maybe a week before the same problem re-occurs. Switching the TV off and on at the wall will also rectify it - but the problems always come back after a few hours to maybe a week. The only thing left to try which we can think of is a full factory reset which we are reluctant to do as we have a number of apps set up - but we may have to try, if nobody has any ideas. Or it might be a problem with our Humax box.

Has anybody else experienced this behaviour ? Any solutions would be greatly received.

Many Thanks

Colin

Hey @COLINH34, firstly, have you tried connecting your Humax Freesat Box to the TV though different HDMI port and cable? You can try and check if the issue is still happening or not.

Then, make sure your TV is running on the latest software version, as it might be a software bug only.

You can also test your TV with different HDMI devices to confirm the cause of the issue.

And you can try this workaround to free up space on your TV and make it smoother (settings > device preferences > storage > internal storage > cached data, then restart your TV by holding the power button for a few secs.

Hi Piscie

Many thanks for your reply. I have tried running my Humax through various HDMI ports (including ARC) but to no avail. The software is also up to date. When running DVD's we have not experienced any problems including any audio/video lag. I have tried freeing up space as you have suggested (this was yesterday) and so far everything is behaving itself. Still not sure whether it's the TV or the Freesat box. Though I would not have thought the Freesat box (if that is the problem) would cause all the mayhem ( audio/video out of sync/ volume bar disappearing/not being able to switch off the TV/cannot enter settings etc.) on my TV.

Again - many thanks for your reply.

Hey @COLINH34, most welcome! For me it seems to be an issue from the Freesat box since the TV is working properly with the DVD player through HDMI. If that possible, you can test the box with different TV and check its performance.
