never gonna buy these thing again.. and im spreading the word to "NOT TO BUY SONY PRODUCTS" its just too many bad things happen to this brand
When happened to me I installed an app called "back button" . It was working fine but an Xperia version update came and several setups were not available if you do not turn off the application everytime (one could say it was on purpose). Tough to deal but I could go on. Few months later the hole screen stopped working... No touch was recognized. Only solution: buy an OTG (ON THE GO) micro USB cable, plug a mouse on it (it works.. trust me), transfer your data to an SD card or to cloud and finally throw the Sony phone through the window.
The problem is software, because the game clash royale uses that zone (back and home) and works correctly.
Update already !!!!
Same different day
On the verge of tossing the phone and saying sayonara to Sony mobiles...which is a pitty, as this is not usual modus operandi for expected from the usual always TOPdraw Japanese stylies 😕
Have tried all the suggested fixes, including full re-install, and no luck yet...
Not too keen on using apps to put a plaster on the problem, currently using 'glove mode' work around to get by...but from what i've read, not sure how long this will hold up...
Definitely seems to be a Sony software issue, which they seem reluctant to sort, as hoping people will just get a newer model.
** Has anyone tried rolling back from previous Android operating system to test if that helps sort the issue ??
I feel like it's a software problem too.
I have exactly the same issue with my Xperia Z3. The problem just appeared out of the blue recently. When auto-rotating the screen, the back/home button at the top work perfectly. It definitely is a software problem, not a hardware/touchscreen one. In auto-rotation mode the same zone where the back/home button are located works just perfectly. So far I really loved this model, but this bug makes it pretty much useless to me.
Android v6.0.1
Build number 23.5.A.1.291
Have just tried previous version 5.1.1 (23.4.A.1.264) (and also a different 6.0.1 version) but neither solved the problem unfortunately.
Salam
The solution is
Go to settings / display and enable Glove mode.
No it isn't.
I don´t understand why the the screen needs to be changed as i believe in almost all of the cases described here it is not a hardware fault. In my case neither the back , home or task-navigation buttons work, not even in glove mode. However if i use the Talkback app ( the app which is to help the visually impaired use their phone more easily) the back, home and task-navigation buttons work perfectly. So therefore i believe that this is a software problem and should be dealt with by Sony. This solution has its own inconveniences but at least it saves having to switch off and on the phone.
