Metadata / Tags not being read by Walkman

I have an NW-ZX300 and an NW-A50 series (same as NW-A40 series), and I’m having trouble with a small number of files for which the Walkmans don’t recognize the metadata tags.

For reference, I’ve had trouble with MP3’s in the past, but right now I’m having trouble with iTunes formatted .m4a (MP4) files.

On a given album, 10 or 12 tracks are being read just fine with all tags being displayed properly on the Walkman, whereas for another 1 or 2 files on the same album, metadata tags are not being recognized.  Those files end up showing under “Unknown” Artist/Album folders, and when I select one of these unknown files there is no tag information/no artwork showing up.  When I click on “Show detailed song information” for the given track, it’s still not showing any metadata - all fields read “Unknown”.

I’ve tried manually editing the metadata using Kid3, iTunes, Subler, etc., and even though the metadata shows up inside the tag editing software it’s still not showing on the Walkman.  So, it seems the tags are in fact there, but simply not being recognized by the Walkmans.

Anyone else have this problem and any known solves?

Hi U2Joshua,

I'll see if I can find this out for you. Maybe someone else in the community can help in the meantime.

Thanks,

Hi U2Joshua,

How did you transfer the songs to the Walkman?
