Connected USB. The player cannot be operated.

I used to be able to just connect my player to my laptop and now it won't let me operate it anymore

I recently reconfigured my laptop, but I don't think that could be the problem could it?

I've got XP service pack 3 - I don't know whether that's got anything to do with it?

Please help!
