WLAN doesn't like me

I own a vgn-fs115e, and love it... until the WLAN stopped working. Every time i connect to my home network i get ''limited or no connectivity'', well in this case none cos i can't connect:smileysad:

The problem started when i downloaded and installed 'Warez P2P' which, with no other option or warning, installed an app' called 'SP2 Connection Patcher' (which i didn't like at all) I quickly got rid of the two app's and rebooted, to find i still had no connectivity. I figured I could just restore my settings to before i installed anything but for some reason all my restore points have been deleted (not a problem, must un-mindfully done it during a clean-up).

I have also tried reinstalling the drivers off the download page and still no connectivity, and i know it isn't a problem with my network as i am using my mum's crappy ACER on it to write this post.

yours hopefully

Mmmmm normally I would check the config firewall programs settings and see what is being blocked and so on. In your case as you have used P2P software god know what it has done and it is likely the settings will not respond the way they should. i would reinstall your Nortons or whatever you are using completely and get a fresh start on the settings and reinstall your internet explorer also. Go to add remove programs and windows componants and uncheck the box for explorer and click next. Again whatever brwser you are using. Also turn off your system restore and that will delete the ugly settings and turn it back on again.BTW P2P is illegal so try not to mention it on a public forum 'tis a good idea.

Stick in the mud! It’s not illegal, but can be used for illegal purposes – but none of us would do that of course.:smileywink:

Adrob,

In addition to Tony’s suggestion, try reinstalling SP2 as this may have been corrupted by the removal of the SP2 Connection Patcher.

Oh OK not illegal except in Australia apartently if you just visit a P2P site in Australia you are giving the old bill the red arse. Yes just visiting, let alone downloading. LOL. Only a matter of time if they have a marginal success there that it will be adopted here too.

Well if you can't take a joke, as they say, you shouldn't live there.
There are plenty of legit reasons for using P2P, not all of us are sharing copyright material, any anyone that uses it to download such files deserves all that they get in the way of malware & Trojans.

Alas Australia, especially Western Australia are a Police state. but I was in no way having a go Rich and neither were you so where's the fire? I admire and cherish your worldly wise and far superior advice and I'm always joking too...you know me.

That's excellent I'll try all that. In this case i would preferably backup my app's and reinstall windows, but for some reson my VAIO Recovery utility (not so long ago reinstalled) doesn't recognise my laptop as a vaio, and has been saying so for a while now, even before i reinstalled it:smileyd_oh:

You should still be able to run the Hard Disk Recovery Utility by tapping F10 when you first boot the computer.
