wireless problems

Hi all,

wondering if any of you could offer me some help. Just bought my first sony laptop - NS20Z/S - machine is great but does not stay connected to the internet. I have a BT Voyager 2110 wireless modem.

The Vaio picks up my wirless modem with no problems and it says the signal strength is excellent. Yet it keeps on dropping the connection and loosing the internet (brings up the standard 'can not connect to internet' screen). Oddly, if I have my old laptop on and connected to the internet the connection remains stable. Any ideas on what I can do to solve this? I am not very computer/Internet knowledgable so any tips appreciated. I have avast! security set-up (could this be an issue?).

Many thanks for any help.

Hi manchestermilesy and welcome.

Do you have the Intel Wireless card? Have a look in Device Manager under Network Adapters and check that you have the Intel 4965AGN WiFi card.

If the answer is yes, you can fix your problem quickly and easily by updating the wireless driver. You can download it from here (it is the driver download numbered No 1): -

Intel 4965AGN driver ver 12.4.0.0
