I foolishly let my VGN-T2XP download a Sony Vaio update yesterday. Now I have lost everything in my machine. I am travelling in the USA and my back-up is in London.
Is it normal for an update to reset the machine without creating a resore point? Everything is gone, including some of my applications, but not all of them.
I hate this sony, but I still use it because the TZ 21 which I upgraded to is a VIsta based disaster. So now I have two useless Sony laptops and while I know that I should not have accidently clicked yes to the update I am now stuck.
Looks like an Apple in my future.
I sympathise with your frustration.
What update was it exactly?
It is very rare for Sony to release updates for your machine - there has only been one update in the last 15 months - that was Vaio Edit Components last November.

Agreed, never ever seen this the case with any laptop
You didn't accidently hit the shortcut keys on boot up to restore did you?
Even then, you would have noticed as there is a few screens before restoring and does not simply just do it for you on the click of a button
How very odd, I'd be interested to know what update you installed as well...
Hi,
What did you download the update from? Was it defintely from VAIO update or was it from Windows update?
This does seem very odd as Vaio update has very little updates, it would be nice to know which update you think did it, if it was infact the update that caused this.
Mark.
