Hello all,
I have just purchased a TR5MP and am extremely happy with it except for one issue! I can not connect into my wireless LAN unless I am connected to the power supply. Once connected to the Wireless LAN, I can disconnect the power supply and it all works with no problems. Does anybody havbe any ideas? It is most frustrating.
Thanks,
Mike.
Try to switch energy saving modes off. This can be done in Device manager, look for your wireless card, right mouse click on it, Properties. Somewhere in that window, you'll find settings related to power saving.
Thanks for your reply.
I can see the settings, but have no idea what they mean and hence what to set them to.
Power Management - currently Automatic. Can choose Power Mode 1 (minimum) to Power Mode CAM (maximum).
Also IBSS Transmit Power?
Any ideas,
Thanks, Mike.
Having also purchased a TR5 I have been looking at the power options in Control Panel. The wireless card is not actually listed in the Vaio Power Management sub folder.
If you right click "My Computer and go Properties/Hardware/Device manager/network devices/Intel 22200BG/advanced there is an otion for changing power management - Try Pwer Mode (CAM) or Power Mode 5 to see if this resolves your problem.
I am currently using an PCMCIA card for wireless 80211a so I cannot try the integrated card.
Please let me know what the resolution is as I am considering buying a "g" acess point.
William
I have had no joy changing the power settings.
The wireless network will not connect when on battery!
So I have lodged an e-support request to see if they can help.
Thanks anyway.
msharrott,
Thinking about it if "wireless hotspots" do really exist in some public areas then the chances are it will be on battery so this is not good.
Please post the solution here as I intend extending my wireless network to include "g" in the near future. Just hope the house doesn't start glowing with all the waves (a & g) flying around.
The better half might grow extra appendages:smileygrin:
Regards,
William
The better half might grow extra appendages
Not sure about that William, then again I bet they will come up with something like "wireless gives you cancer" or some poop like that
