Hi everybody
I just purchase a VGN A117S centrino 1.7ghz and have install HDD montior for checking temperature of my HDD and CPU when playing games.
What I discover is strange...
After 3 hours of Doom3 (which is high process demanding game) the HDD is 44°c and the M/B 47°c and surprise when I run a adaware and spybot the HDD is 43°c and the M/B 60°c !!!!
My question : do you know what the maximum temperature of each HDD and CPU can reach before alarming ?
Thanks.
I've no idea what actual temperature is the 'maximum' but presumably the machine will shutdown if a certain temperature is reached?
Try not to go over 70 degrees on the CPU and probably no more than 55 on the HDD.
Must admit I installed temp monitoring software at one stage.
The processor is capable of sustaining "high" temperatures and I was never unduly concerned about the HDD temp.
My advice (& don't quote me on it) is to uninstall the software -
Then there are no more concerns about temperatures.
Its a new laptop and therefore there should be no problems with dirty fans and blocked vents - enjoy it

I know AMD suggest not to go over 85, but as Sony don't do many AMD systems....
it is a centrino
with beautiful screen 17" ... hard to clean !!!!
Intel have a guide on tempretures on their site for Centrinos.
