I have 2 Sony vaio PCG-K315B which were new in about 2004. Both wll have done about the same number of hours. Bot have recently developed the same problem----they shut down after a about 60 seconds.
The symptoms were the same on both--first the screen would show very slight variations of brigtness then a day or so later the laptop would suddenly switch off and after that would not stay on long enough to even boot up.
I assumed it was due to overheating and I blew compressed air thru the cooling vents it had no effect.
On one I took out the whole cooling system with the processor firmy cemented to it and blew thoroughly through the small radiators--again the was no effect.
I suspect some component in the supply side has an age limit, probably a capacitor, and that this problem is not unique to me.
I have 3 questions Has anyone else experienced this problem?
What is likely to be cause?
What and where is the component I need to replace?
Any help would greatly appeciated. Thanks
