Hi, I posted here ages ago, but where that thread has gone is beyond me.
Anyway, my FS215s, is currently at basic ram (2x256mb)
Now, I could replace one module with a 512, which would work, giving me in the region of 700mb of Ram.
But i'm tempted to replace the module with a 1024mb module. However my laptop has a max memory of 1024 (apparently??)
So. could I replace one of my 256's with a 1024 mb module, and then leave the other bank empty
Or do I have to buy two 512's to get a Gig of ram??
(buying one 1024 is cheaper than two 512's)
Thanks in advance
Paul
I assume your laptop has two slots and as you say the max is 1Gb.
There is no "rule" that both modules have to be the same size or even that both slots are filled.
So you should have no problems with 1 X 256 and 1 X 512 or even 1 X 1024 on its own.
Really? I thought that when there was a bank of 2, both slots had to be filled
Your model has 2 banks of 1, so you can install just one module - ie they do not need to be paired. But as the max is 1024 MB I think, but am not entirely certain, that you need to install a 512 MB module in each slot to achieve the maximum supported memory.
