ram upgrade and folder

Hello all,
i have a fs215M notebook and it seems to be a little slow... (i had use a toshiba with same cpu/ram/hd and there's a big different...). If i upgrade my ram to 1024mhz i will see a speed boost (my graphic card use 128mb of ram)? which ram do you suggest me? i seen that many of you use crucial, i found these 2:

SO-DDR CRUCIAL 512 MB PC2700 CL2.5
SO-DDR CRUCIAL 512 MB PC3200 CL3

which is better? CL3?

In my c disk i have 2 folders: update and drivers... can this folders be removed? are these used by the vaio update?

thanx a lot for you help

As far as the memory is concerned Crucial recommend and guarantee that the CL 2.5 is compatible with your model. Although DDR RAM is backwardly compatible there is possibly no advantage in going beyond the limiting speed of your processor. Have you used the Crucial System Analyser?

If you are not short of space I suggest that you leave any Vaio system folders intact. Although I assume that these folders would probably be re-created during an update process.

Edit: You will certainly notice an increase in performance by doubling the amount of RAM, especially when multitasking.
