PV as address book

Hi everyone,
I'm just putting the finishing touches to a program to convert your Outlook/Lotus Notes/ Whatever address book (anything that will export to vCards) into a bunch of Contact Card images for your Vaio Pocket.

Very useful! Just upload the created USER_XXX directory into Vaio and you have a portable address book. Also lets you assign an different image to each person.

Here is an example

The image does not need to be resized by the Vaio, and so loads quickly and looks perfect on "Low Quality" picture viewing mode.

This is just version .0001 or whatever, so if people think they'll use it, I'm open to sugestions and will fix up format, etc.

Now's the time for feedback if you have any? Suggestions for improvements to either the GUI or the functionality?

For one, I think the card size can be increased by a little more without problems. I would also like to add support for all the extra vCard info, such as birthday (very useful too!), and maybe extra comments for each person?

ALSO: It would probably be a good idea to "install" (i.e. unzip) the Vaio program actually onto your Pocket Vaio, and also stick your vCards in a directory on it. This will let you update your contacts from any computer (should work with Mac/Unix/Linux/etc also, though you'll need to launch it manually), and also let you take around all your custom contact images ...might actually be obvious sorry!

I think that you should "drag" just a little bit the information more to the right. And maybe change the background sheet. It's just my opinion.

Regarding the position of the information, I wanted to make sure long emails, etc. did not get cut off, but I know what you mean - it's not very balanced :smileygrin: Maybe I can make it reposition depending apon the size of the text?

Sorry the new version is taking so long to get out - I didn't want to rush it out with a badly designed Skin system and then ruin what people had started to work on by changing it later

Of course if you are thinking of downloading this now, there is no reason not to get the current version, and use it while waiting for the new one. There will be no problem overwriting old output. That is unless you are on dial-up and don't want to have to wait!!

Okay - so expect the new version maybe lunchtime tomorrow.

The output with Elkingti's skin look really great, so worth the wait
