Optical Drive does not read any CD or DVD any more

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS285M with a Pioneer DVR-k15 DVD +- R Double Layer Optical Drive.
It was working ok, but now it does not read neither CD's nor DVD's. The drive appears in My PC, but when you click on it, it seems that the disk is blank, which is not the case.
Thank you for your help.

Welcome to the forum,
Buy a lens cleaner CD and if that does not work delete the driver for the optical drive and reboot. This will automatically reinstall the driver. Navigate to the device manager by right clicking on My computer/properties/device manager and in the tree reveal the Pioneer DVD drive. If it has an exclamation mark next to it then yes it needs to be deleted and reinstalled. Good luck

i am currently having the exact problem with my fs215m with the same drive pioneer dvr k15 and i havent tried the cleaning disk yet but ill give it a go. ive contacted sony e-support and they are suggesting that it might be a lens alignment issue and that i should probably contact sony to replace the drive etc Has anyone got any ideas as to how this might of happened because its not like ive dropped it or anything of the sort? and does anyone know how long they will have it if there fixing it etc?
