Hi all, hope you'll help me as you have done before.
I am thinking of upgrading my VAIO's system memory. As i have read, the laptop has two memory slots each one with a 256 Mb module.
Therefore, no slot free and the only solution is to drop one of the current 256 module and put a new 512 Mb in its place, thus having 768 Mb total.
My question is : Is it possible to have
a) different RAM configuration (1 module 256 and the other 512)
b) Modules from different manufactures ( Sony's prices are far from low)
Thank you all and regards
fala portugues
???????
why not chinese ???. sorry man, I am spaking english, so everyone can understand what I say.
By the way, No falo portugues, falo español
The answers are yes to both questions. You can use different size cards and you can use memory other than Sony's.
Thanks a lot Rob
On the subject of RAM in this topic, I have a PCG-GRV516G Vaio laptop that is now 3 years old. It has 2x256Mb ram sticks and I was thinking of taking those out and putting either 2X512Mb sticks or a single 1Gb stick in? Some say it will work but others say it won't cause of the age. At the time 256 was the only sticks you could get, but times have changed. Is it possible??
