Linux dual boot

I have a VGN-A517S with docking station. I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 to dual boot with XP. Ubuntu won't pick up the speakers through the docking station. Also it does not open the CD drawer unless I press the tiny reset button on the drawer face. Anyone got any ideas?

HI jonti,
I hope you're familar with a terminal,
If so pls open gnome-terminal,

and copy the output of "lsusb" and "lspci" for both cases, with and witouht docking station.
