Keep Loosing Wireless switcher every time I boot the computer

I recently bought an x4sp/b with SP2
Got it home, updated all the windows software from the site after that I lost my wireless switcher icon in the task bar everytime I switched the computer on.
When I switch the wireless on, both bluetooth and wlan both come on. I can then retrieve the icon by manually double clicking the programme in the vaio folder and then switch between the 2.
I first tried re install all the utilities at the advice of Sony Tech support, that had no effect.
I then re installed the system software, went through the XP update process on line again, and the same thing happened???
If I hibernate the computer it is there when I fire it up again, I only loose it on full restart????
Any ideas?

Uninstall your wireless LAN driver and install the latest from the adapters manufacturer (most likely Intel).

That cured the problem on my VGN-A. I was loosing the icon and the functionality everytime after the 10th to 20th start after a full system recovery.

Needless to say that Sony support has no idea.

Good luck and keep me updated!

Also you will find the Sony system compatable wireless Lan drivers here. If that does not work download the whole utilities bundle again and reinstall it and get the latest updates and save them to the D drive
