At first i want to say that i am quite happy with my choice. Its a nice little thing, perfect for me to work/code.
The S4M came with preinstalled XP Home and the usual recovery stuff (thumbs down to sony for not including a recovery dvd/cd).
I have installed XP Pro, because i already have a license and i need the Pro version for work. After i have installed all the drivers, everything seems to work just fine.
But somehow (its probably just my imagination because this thing is new and i want it to work 100%) the screen appears to be darker after i have deleted the preinstalled version and installed xp pro. Is this possible ? Does the x-black display need some sort of special display driver ? XP got it as a standard monitor @ 60Hz.
Should be alright or what do you guys say ?
Is there any software in the recovery-pack, which is important to install ?
The second thing i have noticed - the battery. I have tested a few other S4M's and S3HP's, the behavior is the same - the battery is slightly loose.
I doubt this will be a problem, i just wonder if your S-Series Vaio-batt. behaves like that.
yeah, thats it. Any feedback is much appreciated!

The very master himself James Mold has returned to help solve our mere mortal problems. Here is the link to his web for the solution to your situation. As for your software. It on a hidden partition but don't try to reinstall it unless you have followed the reccommendations of the following link. As for your screen well the drivers are probably on holiday due to the incorrect XP installation. Cool job you have there Java, borland C++ http://www.xgsystems.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21 Here is a wacky patent to assist well being[

Yeah, I noticed the same thing - and according to notebookreview - it does indeed apply to 'all' S-series

but if you think about it, is it possible to have a darker screen if you install xp without updating from the Home edition ? (i have installed the orig. drivers from the Drivers directory)
