I have got my first ever laptop and I'm loving it!

I got the Sony VAIO FS315M.

I have a few questions about the battery side of things:

When the battery has fully charged it doesn't seem to stop charging and just work on AC power. Is this correct? My laptop at work goes to just AC power when charged?

Another question is about the power settings. Is the VAIO Optimised the best option to go for when wanting to get maximum performance from the laptop?

My last question is can I make the battery metre say how much time is left and not just a percentage?

Lithium batteries have a built in processor that prevents overcharging or they will explode. The power KeeLo mentioned is to keep the battery at a good operational temperature and keep the batteries mini processor busy. According to google research having the battery in the bay does not effect the life span of the battery but discharging and recharging does. I'm still not sure if that is true as many here have complained their batteries have had their discharge times cut dramatically if left in the bay. Check this articlehere
