Automatic Update. Problem Installing "RescueData(x64)UpdateProgram".

Hi All,

I have had a problem installing an automatic update, "RescueData(x64)UpdateProgram", for my SVE1513B4E. Other relevant data may be EP0000295598.exe, 2.8.1 - 2.8.1.04010; 10/04/2013

When the update tries to run automatically, after the computer restarts the update centre reports a failed update attempt.

I downloaded the .exe file from the Sony website and ran it manually; this time I get the message, "Cannot complete due to inadequate recovery area".

Has anyone else succesfully installed the update?

Has anyone had a problem and gone on to overcome the problem?

I can tell you that I had same problem. But after some investigation I success to install this updates.

I have this situation. Look the picture down. What I did is that I go first copy everything from Windows RE Tools (F:) disc. I am not sure that you can see this drive on your vaio, because I can see it all now. But I remember that before I didn't see it, but after formating they somehow appear.Ok long story. Copy all from mentioned above, and go to format that drive. After formating put back this files which you copied first. Go automatic update like usually and after restarting should be all ok. Good luck.ScreenShot002.jpg

Note: I format drive called Windows RE Tools (F:). Which on my vaio is capacity of 915MB, do not format Recovery drive which has 27GB.

Hello Alenmrki,

Many thanks for replying to me. I didn't think anyone was going to reply to my question and I stopped monitoring for a while. So sorry to be so long returning to you.

You are correct that I cannot see a drive for Windows RE Tools: neither the Drive letter ?:\, or a reference to Windows RE Tools.

It is possible that Windows RE Tools is in one of the partitions marked as (Recovery Partition) but I cannot access the files within the drives as they have no drive letter assigned.

The computer is working and so maybe I don't need the x64 update. This is just one of may things that doesn't work correctly, I give up!
