Does anyone know where I can buy a RAM-extension for my W1-series. Do I have to pay attention on any special features or will any RAM-extension run on my W-series.
Déjà vu
Your Computer don't use special Sony RAM. You can use any RAM.
Use Everest Home edition , to find out what for a RAM you W1 has. Use this to upgrate.
these things are importend (examples):
168 PIN
333MHZ or DDR 2700
CL 2,5
(that are examples!)
use Everest, to find out what is the correct.
Crucial are very good -deliver in 2 days!!! There system is very good -just follow the instructions on the page and they tell you which RAM & Price

Bonsoir,
Today i try to upgrade my ram capacity from 512 to 1024Mo in my vaio vgc-m1.
After recommendation find in the e-support link I've bought a PC3200 DDR400. I find it in the Int....ty shop and it was a Hynix one.
It doesn't work with the ram already installed in my vaio.
I try hynix alone -> OK in the two different slot.
But with both ram
.
Tomorow i'm going to change supplier of it but if someone have an idea ?
I wait :smileycoffee: for a reply ....
Ciao
Bonsoir
I am not sure what you have bought but it looks like you need the original 512MB RAM in one slot, and a new 512MB RAM in the second (empty) slot. Look Here: http://www.vaio-link.com/tutorials/memory/memory.asp?l=en&m=1757&c=1
I find this comment interesting::smileyconfused:
"To check if the memory has been correctly installed, please follow the steps below:
Turn on your computer.
Press F2 repeatedly when you see the Sony logo to enter the BIOS.
Once in the BIOS, check the value of Total Memory.
If the number does not correspond to the total amount of memory that is installed, retry the procedure from the beginning. " So maybe this model is difficult to install memory...
