SMP-N100 - firmware update

When will be launched the next firmware update for SMP-N100 ? The last one was released in october 2010.

This is what i want to be improved:

1. Subtitle size - you can't change subtitle size, this is a major breakthrough because if you have a big screen you need to stay close to tv to see the subtitle.

2. HDD Partitions - if you have an external hard disk with multiple partitions the SMP-N100 player will see only one partition, the active one.

3. Path length - the SMP-N100 player can't see files which are in more than 4 folders deep, for example if i wanna play movies from folder \bluray\720p\action\movieName\movieNamePart1\ it won't play but after moving files to \720p\action\movieName\movieNamePart1\ i can see and play the files.

4. Audio profile - some mkv files in 1080p are not supported, many with Container (format) profile at High@5.1

5. Soft's GUI - is ambigous, the first option have to be video because is a movie player; if you select Music option will apear links for playing movie or see pictures, if you select Movie or Picture you will see an error with No Music files.

6. Browser - it doesn't have an Opera browser.

If you want to improve another thing please tell.

Thanks for the feedback - no promises, but we will certainly take these into consideration...

A "Browser" would make this a superb piece of kit.

Panasonic don't seem to have anything to update their none network TV's but they are going to put ITVPlayer on their kit.

ItvPlayer is needed on the SMP-N100.

When will the next upgrade of software/codecs be?

Qirocity is still off line...when will it be back?  LoveFilms not for me as monthly subscription, I prefer to pay per film.

Need to be able to stream MPEG4 series of file formats.

May have to get my money back and try something else like Tesco own Tecknic products.

I agree with the OP, a software upgrade is sorely needed. My player generally handles less than half the mkv files I try to play with it.

I also suggest:

1. The addition of jpg support for music files so that they can be browsed by album cover.

2. A "time-seek" fucntion that would allow you to jump to a specific point in a video without having to fast-forward to it.

Otherwise, I think the interface is great, and the processor speed is impressive.

Thanks

After spending too much money now very disappointed in the level of playback formats of this medai player. At the very least expected to see what the PS3 plays why do we have a more dedicated device not even capable of that. I know I will sit waiting for this to change and was drawn to the sony media player having bravia sync capability (unlike my fat PS3) unfortunately at the cost of some media formats. I know I will sit waiting forever for an update to this hardware which knowing sony's past history will never happen. Shame could be much more.
