Hi Everyone. Hoping you are all well during this pandemic (COVID19)
I am new here so hello. I have had this system for about 12 years in storeage. I know its not wifi capable.
I am trying to connect it to the internet, but I dont have broadband so no connected router.. I do however have a router to use, and I use of my hotspot on my phone. I bought a wifi dongle to plug into the "External" port at the rear, thinking it was a USB port. Sadly no luck getting it to talk to the processor. So I tried to connect it to my PC with a LAN cable as the PC is connected to my hotspot again no luck. I also bought a LAN to USB dongle still no luck.
Can I connect my bluray to the internet some other way or am I missing a step in the above or network settings on either unit.
Ive tried DCHP on auto and I dont know what to put in the static IP section. Anyone?
Hi @micarnol64, welcome to the community.
Is there a reason you wanting to connect to the internet? There may be another way around the issue.
Cheers
Mick
Hi Micarnol64,
Welcome to the community !
Did you try connecting the player to your hotspot directly using the steps on page 127 of the manual: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4109/41097083M.pdf
Stay safe!
Cheers,
Rose
Hi The_Black_Rose.
I re-read that section again, with new eyes as they say. I got waylayed in the process by another forums suggestion to share my PC's wireless network. But in the process I did something wrong(which I now know where I went wrong) and I now have a broken network section with a dongle not mentioned before in an incorrect state. I luckily am still able to connect my mobile phone to its network and still able to turn its hotspot back on after resetting the phone back to factory. So I took a breather to collect myself. I will lookat your suggestion again this qweek and report back.
Do you specialise in networks?
