I got a sony ga8es amplifier for free from friend. However when you turned it on, it displayed "PROTECTOR" (I didn't see it, but that's how my father described it). He tried to push some buttons but nothing changed, and when we tried to turn it on at home, the display didn't work at all. I tried to disassemble it and look for a short circuit or some visible damage, but i didn't see anything suspicious. I know it's a premium amplifier so i would really like to have it repaired, but i have no idea how. Can somebody help?
P.S.: the amplifier itself isn't dead, because when i push buttons they light up, basically everything works, except the display.
I managed to take a photo of it. It's not the best quality but you can see it is still alive:
Hi,
If it displays "Protector" then the speaker terminals are shortened or the amplifier section has a technical issue.
So probably you have to send the device to a repair centre.
Cheers
