Having just purchased the RX10M5 and am hearing a lot of chatter concerning out of focus units, resulting in many units being returned for refund or warranty repairs, has anyone had such issues in the community, as a novice not sure if my new camera is has this fault.
Mine has been returned to Sony UK via Wex with this problem.
Many with the same issue, there is a Facebook group (RX10VTests) which references videos that show how to check if you have the problem.
Yes , mine was returned by the retailer who compared it with my Mark 4 that I had traded in
Sent back with " focusing issues at 600 " ticket
There are too many of these in my opinion for Sony not to step up and reassure us they will fix things
Their own Ambassador in Australia Mark Galer appears to conclude that there is an issue
I'm so disappointed
Yes, I also seem to have focus issue, mainly between 500-600mm.
I mainly photograph birds and wildlife.
On many occasions, although the camera focusses on the eye, bird feather lacks detail (aka "soft").
I have requested a return to Sony UK
Further to my previous post, Sony (or their UK repair partner) have now returned my camera. Their response shown below is the same carefully worded statement issued to everyone with the focus issue.
In other words, Sony UK DO NOT acknowledge there is an issue !
However, Sony U.S. HAVE acknowledged there is an issue. A U.S. Sony Ambassador, Mark Galer, has confirmed this on his website patreon.com with a workaround using DMF.
Consequently, Sony U.S. have either offered an extended a warranty until they have worked out a fix or have offered a refund.
Due to this disappointing response from Sony UK, I would "err on the side of caution" before purchasing the RX10 V in the UK.
