Sorry to be dense, but . . . .
I'm having great difficulty understanding what's going on with WH Smiths and Kobo.
I've received a number of emails telling me that I have to move my Ebook content to Kobo.
1. What Ebook content? I've bought the books and downloaded, so they're on my PC. Yes?
2. Anyway, I followed the process and Kobo informed me that it had moved 3 out of 6 books. The others it could not move. Why - and what does this mean for me in the long term.
I'm really wishing I'd bought a Kindle - my firend's done this and she isn't having any hassle at all, either with the reader or the books.
How/why does Sony make things so complicated?

WH Smith has decided to use Kobo to run it's ebooks store, why have they done well they are best placed to give you the reason.
As for moving your book content. When you buy a book you download it onto your PC, but a copy of it remained on the WH Smith server. The reason for this is you can download it again if you ever lost your copy. This concept is normal and all ebooks stores will do this.
So when they decided to move to Kobo they have allowed users to move their purchased books to Kobo as well. The intention so that you can still access them in future. WH Smith will/have close the ebook accounts of it's customers.
Some books did not transfer over however, 3 in your case, and I suspect this relates to the rights to sell that specific book. Kobo may not have the rights.
It is certainly very important to always ensure you keep a copy of the books yourself, just in case.

Absolutely, always keep the download - unless you decide you never want to read it again ! (Not rare, I've found...)
Agood way of doing this in an organised way would be to install Calibre - then you'll have it on that Library.
( And you might find yourself using this instead of Reader ! It's very easy...)
