Reduced price Sony PRS-T1 covers etc PRS-T2 ?

I see that the covers for the PRS-T1 are on sale on the US Sony store $19.99 cents for the lighted version, still £39 in the UK . Guess they are selling them off because a new model is coming out. PRS -T2 seems to be the new version, but I guess us in UK will be expected to continue paying full price for the current model even when it is released. Best Buy in the US has been selling off the T1 at reduced price for some time now.

Does anyone buy the expensive books on the Sony Reader Store? I searched for Lee Child books the other day, none available ! What a half- hearted attempt at an online store Sony, we don't all want Harry Potter.

Have you tried the Kobo book store, never had a problem finding a book and price are pretty good too.

So no need to change the format, which I'm sure is frowned upon and possibly not the place to discuss such practices

There are loads of sites out there to buy books, and search-engines to help find them - Smashwords is always good, Inkmesh,  and Calibre now has a book search facility if you have the latest updates.

Or, simply Google the book name/author and "ebook" and you'll get a few - Waterstones is good, or, yes, Kobo (Smiths).

Seek and ye shall almost certainly find.

I am aware of all the other sites that you can get books from, I have been using them for a couple of years, my point was how bad the Sony Reader Store is.

I still buy from Amazon by preference and covert using Calibre. DRM ? I agree not to be discussed here.

I do not see that changing format is an issue if I have purchased the book, it just allows me to read what I have purchased and that only effects me.

Presumably the book you've purchased has DRM protection, in order to convert you will need to remove this protection. This is the questionable aspect of this as it may contravene some copyright laws.

Not all the Amazon books have DRM but as I have purchased the original and do not intend to upload the non DRM version like some people do, I do not see an issue. I am not copying the file just using it on my ereader.

As per many other electrical companys, ereader manufacturers decided to use different formats to force you to use their bookstore. I can buy a paperback from any store any read it !

I for one believe this is wrong and will continue to buy my books at the most competetive price from any site I wish. The same thing was in place for music until recently and then Amazon and Itunes  decided to make their music DRM free, lets hope ebook suppliers see the light soon. Your argument is lost on me I am afraid.

You didnt mention that you were getting DRM free books, converting these is no problem at all. Its not the conversion that is the issue its removing DRM that is.

I do agree that DRM is a pain, but it is done for copyright reasons. Kobo for example are not bothered that you buy their books and put them on your Sony, they even give you instructions on how to do it.

Amazon has chosen its own format, which they have a right to do. And they have done it for commercial reasons and to make you buy their product. Just because you dont like that, well thats life.
