Xperia E5 making annoying tones during phone calls

Suddenly out of the blue my phone is making an annoying tone randomly for no apparent reason and then during phone calls. I haven't done anything to cause this that I am aware of. Please help before my phone drives me mad

If I understood you correctly this tone only appears during calls? Does it appear at regular intervals or does it seem to be more random?

If it happens regularly I recommend you to test if it also happens when your device is in safe mode. In safe mode the apps that you have downloaded and installed from Google Play will be temporarily disabled so this would help determine if the tone is caused by one of those.
