I have just bought a Sony Xperia E5 and wish to use the volume key as a shutter release.
http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiae5/userguide/general-camera-settings/
says:
You can choose how you want to use the volume key when taking photos.
Zoom - Use the volume key to zoom in or out
Volume - Use the volume key to adjust the volume
Shutter - Use the volume key to take photos
When I go to Apps > Camera, I can’t find the section about choosing how I want to use the volume key when taking photos. Can anyone enlighten me as to where exactly it is? (Sorry if I am being completely stupid here - I am quite new to smartphones. )
Solved! Go to Solution.
It is with some embarrassment that I have to report that I have now solved this. Initially when I went into the Camera settings all I could see under More was “Object tracking” and “Metering”. I had tried scrolling down to see if there were any other options but could not seem to make the screen move. I obviously was not using the correct finger technique for this but I have now persevered and discovered that there are indeed many more options available, one of which is “Use Volume key as”. It was set to Zoom as the default so I have now changed that to Shutter.
Many apologies for my incompetence.
