Microphone problem

Hey. Recently i had some problems involving the microphone. For example, in a calling, it only works if i activate the speaker.  I tried to change the audio from mono to stereo in a sound recorder and it worked! but i didnt find how to do it for every single app in Xperia E5. I want to know if theres a way to change audio from mono to stereo in the phone. Thanks.

no unless each app has that option under its menu

Hi @itssadr182, sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

The device is equipped with two microphones and the main will be used in calls (unless you activate the loudspeaker) and the second microphone when you are recording sound, such as recording a video.

There is a test for the main microphone in the device that I recommend that you do and you can find it in Settings > Support > Xperia tests > Microphone, or Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Tests > Microphone. How is the microphone working in the test?

You can also make sure that nothing is covering the microphone, or that there is any dust or similar that is covering it. The microphone used in calls is placed at the bottom of your device, number 9 on the link below.

Let us know how it goes! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi!. I tested the microphone as you said and it didnt worked. Also it hasent any dust o something like that in it. I think the solution is to change the microphone from mono to stereo: it worked with a recording app, but i don't know if there's a way to do it. Some phones have that option. Thanks!

Hi @itssadr182, thank you for update.

There is no setting in the device to change this, but you can try and restart the device in safe mode, just so we can make sure that no downloaded application is the cause of this, as they are temporarily disabled in this mode. In this mode, you can either make a call, or do the test again for the microphone.

If the microphone still isn't working, perform a software repair, but remember to backup your data as it will be deleted during the repair.

Keep us posted!
