I have been using this device since July. Recently I have been noticing that the application menu (one through which we are able to open app,on the homescreen) is taking some time to load. What could be the possible reasons?. I have 2.8 gb of free space in my internal storage and SDcard (each).Suggest.

Anything is possible at this point. I keep it disabled. Try also if you have no use for the app.
If nothing else works a repair through PC Companion could solve the issue.

If it doesn't work clearing launcher data (Xperia Home app, assuming you're using the stock launcher) could also help. This will clear any customization, widgets, etc you have set up on your home screen.

Yeah tried it in safe mode. Works pretty well. Clearing the data on Xperia home didn't have any effect on the speed. Problem persist. Does it have anything to do with third-party apps?.if so how do I find the problem causing app?

Yes, judging by the results it's a rogue app, one using excessive RAM or CPU cycles or maybe reading/writing to memory a lot. Try and error would be best way to test, uninstall one app after another until you find the culprit. Sort apps by install date and try remember when it all started, will give you an idea where to start and which app could be causing it.
Although I can't really guess why it would slow down only the app menu.

Yeah that would be tedious.and one more thing...if I open the app menu consecutively /immediately it opens up faster, meaning it takes time to load only the first time. The problem returns if settings app or any other apps are opened and menu is launched

Interesting, sounds as if your free RAM is very low, would explain why it's fast after opening it or in safe mode and slowing down after opening other apps, or another app is killing your launcher, again I don't know why it would only occur in the app menu and not whole launcher.
