well, I'm afraid that it's simply not possible, at least when talking about Windows (Mac I don't know). Okay, maybe that there's some desktop replacement software around which would be able to do so but at least I haven't ever heard of an App like that.
The reason is that there are too many different versions of RAW files around. That's why software suppliers sometimes need a bit of time until you're able to use any RAW image from a brand new camera model (Adobe needs up to 6 weeks (and more) sometimes). The structure of RAW files is not even consistent throughout a series of cameras like the Alpha 7 series and it is like this for cameras by other manufacturers as well.
So finally you'd need to convert those images which you would like to see on your desktop into e. g. JPG or any other file format which is accepted by your operating system.
