I am trying to record people making presentations or at shows (e.g a play). My Handycam is usually 3 - 6 metres away from people talking (could be more in other situations). Microphone on the CX360VE not great at picking up voice of speaker, especially if speaker is talking quietly. Speakers can move around a bit so a gun mike with too narrow an angle may not be best. I also need to pick up questions from audience who might be behind camera or to the side. It is not essential to attach mike to speaker, there is usually a flat surface I can put mike on.
I don't have to use Sony microphones if someone has a good alternative to recommend. No stores in UK near me seem to stock much gear so not easy to get advice.
