Importing from DCR-TRV25E to PC with Windows 7

I have been trying to capture by DCR-TRV25E using an IEEE cable but the PC doesn't seem to 'see' the camera. Can anyone help with this, I am trying to capture using Exsate DV Capture as I cannot find the PIXELA software that came with the camera, will this cause a problem?

Hi Peter, welcome to the Sony Forums

You don't need to use any specific video editing software. Once the camera is recognised and connected, pretty much any editor will display your videos and let you work with them.

Have you tried the camera on another PC? It could be that one of the Firewire ports and/or the cable you're using is at fault. Troubleshotting this does mean finding another PC and ideally having an alternative cable handy.

Generally speaking, Firewire connections are very reliable and connectivity issues are hardware- rather than software-related.
