I have a DCR-PC101E handycam how do i upload the tapes to laptop.?

Have been on the sony site and it says it does not support my camcorder with windows&. i have a firewire cable. Can i transfer the footage from my tapes to my laptop? If not how do i get them onto disc so we can watch them? thank you for any help in advance. x

Hi beachunter and welcome.

If your Windows PC has a firewire input, you can transfer the contents of your mini DV Tapes to your PC using something like the free program Windows Movie Maker.  You can then edit and burn to DVD.

Alternatively, your DCR-PC101E has analogue Audio/Video outputs and an AV Cable will have been supplied with the camcorder.  Most HDD Video Recorders have the corresponding AV inputs (Yellow/Red/White) and you can cue the camcorder and start HDD Recording from the AV Inputs to transfer the video to your recorder's hard disc or a DVD.

If you have lose the manual, you can download it from here: -
