Looking at the manual for this camcorder:

If you are able to use the iLink socket to connect the camera to your PC (i.e. Firewire), you will not need to locate the original disc. I cannot see the USB drivers online, so this may be your best bet.

As you are using a laptop, please let me know the laptop make and model so that I can advise you on your best option for adding a Firewire port (if you have a desktop PC available, this may be easier).
