Help with Optical Connection

Help with Optical Connection

I have a PS4, and a turtle beach wireless headset. Audio is sent to the headset through a wireless dongle.
One feature of the headset is independent game audio and chat audio levelling, which is achieved through connecting an optical cable from the back of the PS4 into the side of the dongle in the front of the PS4. The game audio is sent through the optical, and the chat audio straight through the dongle.
The problem is, the new PS4 slim, which I have, has no optical out. Turtle Beach, the makers of the headset, recommend just connecting the optical out from your TV. This is the part that I need help with.
The PS4 is connected via HDMI to a Sony Soundbase, and the soundbase is connected via HDMI ARC to the TV.
I am getting no audio out from the TV. I have checked and the optical cable is showing the red light. I am not sure where the problem is, but the game audio is not being sent to the headset.
Any help would be much appreciated!

P.S. The TV is a Sony Bravia KD-43X830xC

what is the soundbase model?

To get audio from the TV optical out you must first feed the TV with audio via HDMI input.
