Can the xh90 do 4k @ 120hz fully

  • The xh90 (uk) has been advertised as being able to display 4k @ 120hz for
fast clear motion. Unfortunately so far although the motion is smooth ,
clear it is not. I have read many sources from renowned experts regarding
the so called 4k @ 120hz burr. I have myslef played destiny 2 and some of
the horizontal lines character bars etc flicker and shimmer and have what
is know as the rope effect. In tests it seems like the sony xh90 can not do
native 4k @ 120hz, the results conclude as of now it can not
do per pixel resolution on the vertical lines. Is this a hardware issue ?
Or software and is this TV able to fully do 4k at 120hz ?

I understand that sony will now soon update the xh90 with VRR and ALLM. there is also and update for for a PS5 to automatically detect what TV model you have and adjust to optimise HDR automatically for better picture the Xh90 will include this. I am still unsure if this TV struggles with TRUE 4K @ 120hz or if it is simply a firmware problem an update could fix,or if it is a physical chip limitation of the TV.

Below is a link to a well-known TV Expert .

Sony has launched a new "Perfect for PS5" campaign to promote its BRAVIA XR televisions, featuring two PS5-exclusive features, namely "Auto HDR Tone Mapping" & "Auto Genre Picture Mode". "Auto HDR Tone Mapping" refers to automatic HGiG parameter population through identification of the TV model ...

Hey all,

I can see that a new update has been released a few days ago, it's not yet official that it's released with VRR and ALLM.
But there's no doubt that some TVs has been getting it, it's just Sony is saying that it's not a full release as some might come across bugs and glitches cause they've just started the rollout. And the update will be fully released still later this year.
But yea, some did get VRR ''with concerns of minor bugs here and there''.

Cheers.
