Hi guys,
I won this Sony Mavica camera on eBay a couple of weeks ago. It came with lots of extras but, even so, it was really cheap at £18.00 + postage. I got a spare battery, mains charger and another charger for the car plus a few 8cm discs for it. The camera seems to be in very good condition after a wipe over with a very slightly damp cloth and it takes fantastic photos. The only problem is that I am struggling to find a remote shutter release for it. Looking on various websites such as Steve's digicams and other similar places you see references to such a device but nobody ever comes out with a model number or anything like that. The best that I have seen so far is a note about what lives under the flap on the side. There is a mass of detail about the aftermarket flash cable with model numbers and serial numbers followed be "or the remote shutter release" but no mention of exact model numbers for the remote shutter release.
To make it worse, if I go to Google and type in "Remote shutter release for Sony Mavica MVC-CD500" I get loads of hits including some from Amazon showing the right sort of gizmo but how do I tell if they work with this camera? The listing doesn't mention this camera although it shows a long list of suitable cameras.
I'm now lost.
Does anybody know an exact make and model of the correct remote shutter release (wired or not) for this camera?
Cheers,
Steve
Hi Steve
The only 'official' remote is the RM-DR1:

A list of Sony accessories for the CD500 is here:
