Ah, silly me, the default mode is LP not HQ, so all the recordings that looked half way ok on the old Sony FX28 will now look terrible ! Thanks...

Hi Just bought a new Bravia KDL-32EX503 TV and now when I playback recordings, motion seems quite pixellated and with artefacts such as outlines. I've tried playing with the output settings eg resolutions (1920x1080p is supported on the Hdd player which seems to match the Tv) but no result. Anyone have any suggestions? The same TV show watched live via HDMI from the HDX970's Freeview tuner shows no pixellation or artefacts so I presume it is the quality of the recording or the inherent playback software (I've never upgraded that since I bought it new a couple of years back).

Hi it all depends on the quality at which you have your recordings, the lower recording levels offer space saving, but on a LCD will show these sort of issues the lower the quality goes, i would advise you start from HQ+ and work you way down the scale to find what best suits the quality you would like with the best saving or just record everything in HQ+
