Sony BDP-S3700 BBC iPlayer

I've been using my BDP-S3700 for about 3 years now and have been able to access BBC iPlayer fine, I turned it on this morning and the BBC iPlayer app has disappeared and in its place is something called GREEN.TV. I've tried adding the BBC iPlayer app back to my homepage but there's no BBC iPlayer app I can add anymore, I've also looked through some forum threads and tried some older solutions but I can't find anything that works. Has anyone got a explanation to whats happened and how I can fix this?

Same here. I have a BDV-E4100 and iPlayer has disappeared overnight. How on Earth do I get it back?

I have a BDP-S6700 and i-player disappeared overnight. I can find no informational to why. I am furious as the access to i-player was the only reason I bought the player and it is now redundant. What a waste of ££ and the planet.Bloody BBC

Same here. The app disappeared overnight and there’s no apparent way to get it back. No prior warning from the BBC that it was going to be discontinued.

I was going to contact Sony but their website is not actually loading the right page.

If anyone gets any further information please do share.

Same thing has happened to mine today. I'm really annoyed at this. Is it a licensing issue between Soy and the BBC?

The BBC iplayer help page is showing the following message

We’re aware of some reports that the BBC iPlayer app has suddenly disappeared on some Sony Blu-ray players.
This is under investigation and we will update this page as soon as we have more info.

Hey everyone,

I've also seen this mentioned on Sony's Twitter a few hours ago, they've said "We're aware and investigating this" so hopefully we'll have an answer soon.

People have started reporting on the forums that the apps are back.

Try checking the apps menu again as it seems to have been fixed.

Hi!

Thanks for your comment. I went back to my player and I noticed a further
button had appeared on the top right corner "update Application". Clicking
this took me through a logical sequence of establishing connectiomn tot
he Internet and then restoring the iPlayer, so the problem is now resolved
on both my machines. 🙂
