HI.
Thanks for your advice.
I have tried playing the CD and although it is playing the songs, there is no music heard. Conventional CD's play perfectly.
I was wondering whether the players settings need to be configured to play an SACD.

Have you tried multiple SACDs? If so, try to update the player:

Thanks for your reply. I have tried these suggestions, but they don't work. It is a pity since the SACD (Dark Side of the Moon) plays with my LG pc drives without any problems. Like I said earlier, the disc plays, but there is no sound. Conventional CD's can be played and heard.

A quick update. I have plugged the HDMI cable from the player into the tuner/amp and NOW I can hear it! Previously it was plugged directly into the TV.

Problem solved, but thanks for your help anyway.

Me too Top marks for this effort from Sony sound quality is the best when using SACDs and Amazing picture quality too as long as you use a 4k TV of course, I am only using a cheap TCL 4k Monitor but delighted with the picture quality. I am also using 4k cables as well bought separately. Update: But after using this since July 20 when I purchased it its been a constant going in and out of sound settings to get the sound to work. The main problem here is if you plan to just use it for blu ray, network and CDs that's fine but as soon as you put in a SACD there is no output in Super Audio so its back in to sound settings to re set it to play SACDs then after that it goes dead again no sound when trying to watch a Blu Ray/You Tube/or normal CD and if that's not a nightmare in itself you get TWO HDMI outs one for Audio/Video and one for Audio Out only which I am guessing is for SACD. I have managed to get the SACD output working in the past but I can't get it to work now when I changed in settings, why the heck can't Sony just have one HDMI out and set the sound to adjust itself for ALL outputs not have to keep going in and out of settings every time I want to change from normal sound to DSD/Super Audio CD its a complete nightmare and very frustrating and more bother than its worth I am considering selling this unit for a better brand. Very angry with Sony they have gone down the drain the last few years with their products.

If only it was as simple as that which it is if your playing an ordinary CD, however with SACD its a nightmare it plays the disc and shows the tracks etc but no sound comes out.

I've tried different SACDs with no joy shows up the tracks etc but no sound comes out yet when you play normal CDs its fine or DVDs. What the hell is going on here?

I have my X800 connected via HDMI1 to my Sony RHT-G900 ( remember these?) and then to my Sony KD-49XH95. Don't get your hopes up though - the sound from SACD is dissappointng...
